The power-size relationship, fundamental in the design (synthesis) of electric machines, is traditionally solved by using the ´´constantante C (Arnold-Esson); as an alternative, the author proposed the use of the vector Poynting SP (VA / m2), as the surface density of the transferred power, a concept that allows the sizing (synthesis) of a much wider class of machines and electrical transformers. In the present paper, we obtain, for different types of conversion (radial, axial, radial-axial, etc.), a general relationship between the two concepts (SP =( nDc /pi) C), where Dc (m), represents the average diameter of the conversion surface.
To illustrate the proposed concepts and computational relationships, applications are made for a synchronous motor (Pn = 500 kW, cosfn = 0.96), made in radial, axial, or axial-radial variant [1], and finally (Tab.1) are presented comparative results obtained for all variants constructive analyzed.
